3-Hour Scholarships

  • As a FastTrack student, upon successfully completing any FastTrack course, a student is granted the opportunity to apply for a 3-hour class credit.

Career Pathways

  • Eligibility: Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
  • Mentoring: Meet with an Adult Education teacher for weekly mentoring sessions.
  • Registration: Register and attend orientation, where the candidate will be tested.
  • Testing Requirement: Must take the TABE test (Test of Adult Basic Education).

  • Experience Required: Construction experience is a prerequisite, ensuring that participants are equipped with the foundational knowledge needed for success.

Heavy Equipment Operator

  • Comprehensive Hands-on Training: Gain practical experience with heavy equipment through this in-person program.
  • Offered Twice a Year: Classes start in January and May, providing flexible entry points.
  • Mandatory Attendance: Ensure your success by attending all scheduled classes.
  • 12-Week Duration: Classes held Tuesday through Thursday,

6 pm – 8 pm, at the Chilton-Clanton Campus.

  • Scholarship available for residents of District 15.

Jeremiah’s Hope

The Jeremiah’s Hope program provides scholarships to students seeking workforce training in high-need essential healthcare fields. Classes will take place across Jefferson State’s four campuses and currently are taking place in a hybrid learning environment.

Junior League of Birmingham Beeson Community Fund (Shelby)
  • Bridges the skills gap by providing expertise valued by construction, manufacturing, and automotive employers.
  • Comprehensive Training: Offers hands-on training designed to equip women needed for success in welding careers.
  • Wrap-Around Support Services: Includes childcare assistance and transportation aid to help participants overcome barriers.
  • Empowerment and Financial Stability: Aims to empower women to overcome challenges and achieve long-term financial stability through meaningful employment opportunities.

Nancy Brown Memorial Scholarship

The Nancy Brown Memorial Scholarship is awarded to single parents pursuing one of the college’s short-term, workforce programs. JSCC President Keith A. Brown established this scholarship in memory of his late mother. This competitive scholarship provides financial resources to deserving students facing economic hardship and immediate monetary needs that, if not met, could result in an inability to complete classes or a program. Applications for future scholarship awards can be submitted here. The scholarship will be awarded annually, and applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Paths to Prosperity

 Paths to Success Foundation is a non-profit organization designed to assist Alabama citizens in obtaining skills, credentials, and/or certifications that lead to gainful employment. The Foundation provides opportunities by eliminating barriers that impact an individual’s ability to participate.

Rapid Phlebotomy Healthcare Training program:

  • Program Duration: 12 weeks long, including clinicals.
  • Day Time Class Schedule: Meets 2 times a week.
  • Job and Soft Skills Coaching: Integrated throughout the program with the help of ELI Thrive.
  • Work-Based Learning: Non-credit training program, includes a clinical externship with a healthcare partner of the college.

Short-Term Credential Scholarship Program Grant:

  • Program Objective: Reimburses students who complete a short-term credential program in two semesters or less.
  • Qualifying Program Requirements:
  • Complete an online application for Short-Term Credential Scholarship funds.
  • Pay for all costs upfront; reimbursement will be provided upon successful completion of the training program.
  • The training program must lead to earning a short-term credential.

 Skills for Success, developed by the ACCS Innovation Center, offers rapid, non-credit training courses in high-demand fields. It bridges the skills gap and boosts Alabama’s workforce by providing industry-recognized training, uniting community colleges, businesses, and partners to prepare Alabamians for in-demand careers.

WIOA

  • Unemployed, Underemployed, or Based on Income: Applicants must meet one of these criteria to qualify.
  • High School Diploma Required: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for eligibility.
  • Must Take the TABE Test: All applicants are required to take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
  • Eligibility Determined Through Alabama Career Centers: Final eligibility is assessed and confirmed by Alabama Career Centers.
