Department Location
The Physical Therapist Assistant Department is located on the third floor of the General Studies Building (Suite 316) at the Shelby-Hoover Campus. The PTA laboratory is fully equipped with modern treatment tables, modalities, exercise equipment, and assistive devices that reflect current clinical practice standards.
Students benefit from a learning environment that integrates classroom instruction, laboratory application, and clinical simulation to build confidence and competence before entering clinical rotations. The first-floor campus library provides access to professional resources, including The Rehabilitation Reference Center and other evidence-based materials that support coursework and research.
Instruction is provided by three full-time faculty members, supported by adjunct instructors and guest lecturers who are licensed clinicians actively engaged in physical therapy practice. The program maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:12 or fewer during laboratory sessions to ensure individualized instruction and mentorship.
